This fictional story, takes place in the future. “In a world of extreme beauty, anyone normal is ugly.” Tally’s sixteenth birthday is drawing near, her best friend forever, Shay, along with all the other uglies her age that she knows have gotten the surgery. The thing all uglies dream about until they reach the age of sixteen, then that dream becomes a reality. The only problem that comes in between Tally and that operation, is Tally is a special circumstance. Tally’s task is simple: in order to become “Pretty”, she must betray her newly found friend, the boy she loves, and oh yeah, Did I mention a whole village that has been a secret for 18 years? There’s that, but can Tally betray them all, or will so decide to leave the world she’s known all of her life
